The ETA is systematically requested: not being in possession of the ETA can lead to complications when you travel.
Application and validity of the ETA :
You can also apply for an ETA online. Once the application has been submitted and accepted, the ETA is valid for 90 days and notably allows you to benefit from visa exemption on arrival in Kenya. If you already have a valid Kenyan visa, the ETA is not required for your entry into the country.
Do I need to apply for an ETA in addition to my visa?
If you already have a valid visa for Kenya corresponding to the nature of your stay, you are not obliged to obtain an ETA as well. Some airlines may automatically require this formality before allowing you to board, without knowing that the authorities have indicated otherwise.
For the sake of peace of mind and comfort during your trip, it may therefore be a good idea to also apply for an ETA from the Kenyan authorities. This is a straightforward process - it can be done entirely online and costs just a few dozen dollars - and it could save you a lot of trouble and disappointment during your stay in Kenya.
Don't take unnecessary risks:
Although it is not compulsory to have an ETA in addition to your visa, it is preferable not to take any risks. Imagine arriving at the airport with only your visa and the airline refusing to let you board because you don't have an ETA... You'll have to cancel your flight, apply for an ETA quickly and incur the costs associated with this unforeseen situation.
